TFFM Workshop and T20 Germany Kick-Off Conference in Berlin
To mark the start of the German G20 Presidency, some 200 representatives of the Think20 Engagements Group met in Berlin on December 1 and 2, 2016. The Kiel Institute for the World Economy and the German Development Institute (DIE) are leading the group of think tanks from the G20 countries.

A total of nine task forces, each with about 20 scientists from the T20 network, will produce policy recommendations for the German G20 presidency and beyond.
Leading Think Tank representatives from the G20 countries, high-level officials and experts from other stakeholders participated in dialogue, plenary and break-out sessions, regarding such topical issues as the G20’s global responsibility, the fostering of global sustainability, the G20’s growth agenda and the role of the G20 in building a resilient global governance architecture.
The conference also provided space to present the work of the T20 Task Forces that had been set up to develop empirically-based recommendations for the G20.
Co-chaired by the Kiel Institute, the German Cooperation for International Cooperation (GIZ) and TEPAV, the T20 Task Force on Forced Migration (TFFM) Workshop took place a day earlier, on November 30. Issues discussed included labor market integration of refugees and migrants, fiscal policy and social security issues, promoting entrepreneurship and SME development, as well as the role of international cooperation efforts in tackling the economic and social challenges faced by countries hosting large numbers of refugees.
