Ahmad Wali Ahmad Yar worked as a Research Assistant in the Economic Policy unit at CEPS. Since March 2017, he has collaborated on different CEPS projects, namely the Mercator Dialogue on Asylum and Migration (MEDAM), and the Euro-Mediterranean Network for Economic Studies (EMNES). Ahmad Wali’s areas of expertise are: the labor market integration of immigrants, local-level migration policies, asylum procedures, and family reunification procedures. He also has a strong personal interest in the history and current affairs of Central Asia.
Ahmad Wali holds a Master’s in Political Science from the Université libre de Bruxelles. For his Bachelor’s degree, he studied International Relations at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, where he was also the Secretary General and a founding member of New Silk Way International MUN. Ahmad Wali has also worked as an interpreter for the UNHCR and as a Public Relations Officer for Ariana Social Centre in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
