Reflection of Kiel Institute's main building

Research Alliance

At the heart of MEDAM, three renowned European research institutions are joining forces to address the most relevant research questions and pressing concerns arising from asylum and migration in Europe.

Kiel Institute for the World Economy (IfW)

The Kiel Institute for the World Economy is an economics research center and think tank. One of the six leading German economic research institutes, the institute is also a member of the Leibniz Association and is affiliated with the University of Kiel where it cooperates closely with the Department of Business, Economics, and Social Sciences. It is nevertheless legally and academically independent of the University of Kiel.

European Policy Centre (EPC)

The EPC is an independent, not-for-profit think tank dedicated to fostering European integration through analysis and debate, supporting and challenging decision-makers at all levels to make informed decisions based on evidence and analysis, and providing a platform for engaging partners, stakeholders and citizens in EU policy-making and in the debate about the future of Europe.

Migration Policy Centre (MPC)

The Migration Policy Centre (MPC) in Florence conducts advanced policy-oriented research on global migration, asylum and mobility. It serves governance needs at European and global levels, from developing, implementing and monitoring migration-related policies to assessing their impact on the wider economy and society.
